Ocean and Orchard Festival
FABULOUS FESTIVAL
“The best value for money wine and food festival anywhere in the country,” was the comment from an Auckland visitor to last Saturday’s Ocean and Orchard Festival.
The event transformed the Kerikeri Domain into an alfresco wining and dining extravaganza. Excellent local food was combined with top wines from local vineyards, while Northland bands kept the large crowd well entertained.
The competitions were keenly contested. Neil Brazier and Lewis Noorwalla cooked up a storm to take out the Ready Steady Cook competition and the $500 prize donated by Orangewood.
Oyster eating, lemon sucking and Kiwi Kreations were very popular. The grape stomping proved a real crowd puller.
David Bright won the Mondo Early Bird Prize Draw for flights for two to Sydney.
The lucky winner of the Mondo Fiji 5 day holiday jackpot was Rachel Stupples of Gisborne.
Attendance figures of nearly 800 thrilled organisers. Profits from ticket sales will be donated to the Christchurch earthquake relief fund.
The success of this year’s festival ensures it will be an annual event on the Kerikeri calendar.
The Kerikeri District Business Association appreciates the contributions of Classic Hits, Orangewood Ltd, Mondo Travel, New World Kerikeri and many other local businesses who donated spot prizes.
